We may think that the industrialisation of land use is some unstoppable trend. Maybe not. It's biophysical conflicts are becoming more and more challenging, both in terms of 'resource' limits (fossil fuel urea is just one), and in terms of social challenges (water quality particularly) and other consequences many choose not to consider.
